Summary

I am a happy, hard-working Primary School Teacher with 11 years’ experience as a Teacher, teaching EYFS and Year 1 pupils. I love working with children, inspiring them to learn and to be the best they can be, in all areas of their life. I passionately believe every child is unique and the importanced of devoting time getting to know each child, to support their wellbeing. This also includes forming good, supportive, relationships with parents. When a child feels secure and happy, they will thrive with their learning. I thoroughly enjoy planning and creating learning opportunities/challenges that help children to learn and deepen their knowledge and understanding. Three words to describe me: motivated, joyful, interested.

Work History

Teacher

Minster in Sheppey Primary School
Minster, Kent
11.2004 - Current
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed working for Minster in Sheppey Primary school as a Teaching Assistant, HLTA and finally as a Teacher. Time has flown!
  • I enjoy teaching and caring for Year 1 children and I have successfully prepared them for success with their Phonics Screening. Those alien words can be fun.
  • I feel Year 1 should be a seamless transition from EYFS so that importantly the children's wellbeing is met and they have the best possible learning experience. This can be achieved by teaching the National Curriculum alongside important learning through play.
  • I enjoy learning with the children and promoting awe and amazement at how they achieve.
  • I am adaptable and I have moved in and out of the EYFS stage; during my career; which is where I currently am.
  • It is magical seeing these young children begin their education and how they grow so much through their learning and play.
  • I feel a classroom setting should be a calming, safe place to be, where the children feel settled, accepted and valued.
  • I enjoy developing engaging lesson plans which interest the children and motivate them to learn.
  • I know how to adapt my teaching methods and materials to meet students' varying needs and abilities.
  • I am skilled at assessing children tracking their progress, knowing their next steps for learning and thinking of how they can reach those steps.
  • I love to work as part of a team supporting day-to-day life, planning lessons, sharing ideas and being their for other people too.
  • I believe in a restorative justice approach so that all children are listened to; to try to unpick the whole story in the event of a behaviour incident.
  • I also believe it is very important to communicate regularly with parents to learn more about their child and also to share what their child has been doing at school.
  • I have successfully held Parent's Evenings ensuring I share important information with the parents about their child and listening to their views too.

Other jobs before Education

Various

I initially successfully worked as a Secretary both locally at the time on the Isle of Sheppey and latterly in London. As well as administrative tasks this required me to speak to people globally, arrange meetings and trips abroad and also events in the UK.

I left my job in London as I had two children and I wanted to spend time with them. I became a child minder for a few years, which I enjoyed as I could be with my children too.

When both my children were in school; I worked for HSBC as a Cashier part-time. This involved speaking to the public; which mostly was positive. I became skilled at helping people who were upset or annoyed too by listening and speaking calmly to them. I worked here until the TA job became available at Minster Primary School.

I have always been an organised person who enjoys meeting and speaking to people of all ages.
