Summary

I am a motivated and confident graduate who is looking for an entry level role into the exciting and nuanced world of fashion, specifically in the visual merchandising sector which I am very interested in. I completed my degree in Sociology- with a focus on the Sociology of Fashion- which left me with a deep understanding of how fashion functions as both a cultural and social phenomenon, and graduated in May 2024. I am now looking to apply the skills and expertise I gained from my degree to a job in the fashion industry. I believe my degree equipped me with the abilities needed, such as research skills, critical and creative analysis and problem solving. Additionally, I enjoy working in a fast paced environment and would love to support and motivate my colleagues by contributing to a collaborative team culture.

Work History

Manager

Hollister Co.
Braintree, Essex
08.2024 - Current

Whilst I am looking for a full-time job in the world of fashion, I am currently working as a Manager within Hollister Co. I started as a Sales Associate and I was promoted within the company within 4 months, which I believe displays my ultimate motivation and adoration for the industry to succeed and positively contribute to the business. In addition, it has enabled me to understand how to manage inventory and trends in real-time. As a manager, I have experience in tracking sales patterns, adjusting stock, and managing product flow

In addition, I developed the below skills:

  • Visual Merchandising: My role involves arranging and presenting products in-store to optimise customer appeal. At Hollister, I acquired hands-on expertise with product placement, and brand identification in a retail setting. My degree has also equipped me for this, since I can add value by incorporating colour theory, composition, and trends into store layout and seasonal displays.
  • Styling: Focus on presenting the brand’s clothing in an aspirational yet relatable way, often for senior management. My styling experience at Hollister has given me the expertise to pair garments, create cohesive outfits, and tell a visual story that speaks to the brand's identity. Whether it’s dressing mannequins in-store or styling for photos, this skill is incredibly transferable.
  • I coordinated cross-departmental collaboration for improved workflow.
  • I developed accurate sales forecasts by staying in touch with current trends for improved strategic planning.
  • I change management initiatives successfully improving organisational adaptability.

By coordinating tasks and handling internal communications, I helped keep everything organised and streamlined, which is critical in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment like fashion.

I completed a weeks work experience within the Bank of England and shadowed various bankers, wherein I conducted in-depth market research to understand consumer behaviour. I shadowed senior team members to develop practical knowledge and gain critical industry-specific skills.
