The F2 role has largely been working within clinical areas, wards and emergency department, reviewing and managing unwell patients under indirect supervision from senior colleagues. The increased responsibility of the role is something I have enjoyed and helped develop my decision making skills as a doctor. The year has also offered me more opportunities to be involved in Audit and quality improvement within the trust.
The job has also allowed me to continue to be involved in Medical Education, teaching HYMS students. I have continued to deliver bed side teaching and small group seminar sessions alongside the current teaching fellows. I have also been involved with online talks and presentations for students in years 3-5, helping prepare them for their exams and familiarising myself more with the HYMS curriculum.

The Duties I held during the F1 year were largely clinical as I rotated through renal/general medicine, anaesthetics and vascular surgery.
The responsibilities held throughout F1 were largely for my own work and varied greatly throughout differing specialties. It included reviewing patients during medical on-calls, being an active member of the MDT during board rounds and helping formulate plans during day to day rounds.
As an F1, I was responsible for carrying the cardiac arrest bleep on my out of hours shifts
The rotations I had also gave me fantastic opportunities to learn and practice more advanced clinical procedures.
The year also allowed me to get heavily involved with teaching HYMS medical students, providing bed side teaching and working with the clinical teaching fellows to deliver seminar sessions, at times covering for abcencess in the teaching fellow rota.
