Care home assistant practitioners (CHAPs) are care workers who bridge the gap between the roles of a care worker and a nurse. CHAPs are more involved in the management and clinical aspects of residents' care, carrying out many of the same tasks that nurses would undertake in a care home.

• Ensuring the highest possible levels of care are maintained by assisting residents when required, with all aspects of daily living, in line with their care plans
• Supporting, training and supervising care assistants and new staff members in all aspects of their work within the home
• Following policies relating to personal appearance, hygiene and the uniform policy on duty
• Assisting with social activities by interacting with the residents and helping them to continue with their hobbies and actives within the home, as appropriate
• Completed all training provided and keeping training up to date
• Reporting any concerns regarding the residents to the nurse in charge or the manager
• Respecting the confidentiality of the residents
• Ensuring residents retain their dignity and individually at all times
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, staff members and visitors
