Having been with Openreach for more than 10yrs I have installed, repaired, maintained and built all areas of the copper and fibre network.
For the vast majority of the last two years I have been in a manager role for a new team within Chief Engineers (Complex Engineering). I have been responsible for developing a team of fibre build engineers into, what is considered, one of the best Complex L2C teams in the southeast.
In this role I have:
During my last few years of service I moved into military logistics. I was responsible for inventories ranging from a bag of screws to the largest vehicle on the park and everything in between. I was active at Squadron (sub unit level), Regimental (unit level) and Brigade (command level). In this role I would liaise with Officer Commanders down to Private soldiers. I was responsible for ensuring the units and sub units had the equipment and resources required for operational and exercise objectives.
I maintained an active instructor/teacher/coach role within my unit. Not just for logistics but for trade training (Combat Medic) and weapon, field skills, drill (moving in a uniform manner) and Health and Safety.
22yrs+ military service from private soldier to Senior Non Commissioned Officer. My world was the RAMC (Royal Army Medical Corps), my role was Combat Medical Technician. The title does not give the role the importance or justice it deserves! I fought alongside the soldiers and I was responsible for their health, physically and mentally. The skills and experiences from military service are vastly varied and difficult to summarise:
Provided assistance with bicycle repairs, advice on bicycle issues.
Sold bicycle parts and complete bikes.
Sold and advised car parts
