Having been with Openreach for more than 10yrs I have installed, repaired, maintained and built all areas of the copper and fibre network.

For the vast majority of the last two years I have been in a manager role for a new team within Chief Engineers (Complex Engineering). I have been responsible for developing a team of fibre build engineers into, what is considered, one of the best Complex L2C teams in the southeast.

Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant

During my last few years of service I moved into military logistics. I was responsible for inventories ranging from a bag of screws to the largest vehicle on the park and everything in between. I was active at Squadron (sub unit level), Regimental (unit level) and Brigade (command level). In this role I would liaise with Officer Commanders down to Private soldiers. I was responsible for ensuring the units and sub units had the equipment and resources required for operational and exercise objectives.

I maintained an active instructor/teacher/coach role within my unit. Not just for logistics but for trade training (Combat Medic) and weapon, field skills, drill (moving in a uniform manner) and Health and Safety.

  • Streamlined supply chain procedures resulting in increased efficiency and accuracy.
  • Led training exercises to enhance unit cohesion.
  • Implemented preventative maintenance schedules for military vehicles and equipment to prevent breakdowns during operations and exercises.

  • Handled sensitive information responsibly whilst upholding confidentiality protocols.
  • Conducted regular inspections of personal equipment, enhancing safety measures.
  • Maintained detailed records of inventory to avoid any discrepancies or shortages.
  • Enforced strict adherence to health and safety regulations, minimising risk of accidents.
  • Maintained calm under pressure in emergency response and handling, aiding desired outcomes.
