Work History

Graduate Research Assistant

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center
Oklahoma City, OK
07.2018 - Current
  • Carried out hypothesis driven research on the role of SHIP phosphatases in the regulation of TREM2-mediated microglial function in the context of Alzheimer's disease.
  • Independently planned and performed experiments and data analyses for my project while contributing intellectually towards other projects during lab meetings.
  • Worked in a small lab where I learned, optimized, and executed literature-derived experimental protocols from scratch and established them in the laboratory.
  • Contributed intellectually to campus-wide research symposia and smaller-scale groups like the Myeloid Study Club at the University.
  • Was the head of the Microbiology and Immunology Departmental Retreat organizing committee in 2022.
  • Received the Bill and Charlene Wilson Award for Scientific Innovation in 2021 and a $1000 travel award at the Graduate Research Symposium on campus.

Research Assistant

Renal Genetics Lab, St. John’s Research Institute
Bangalore
03.2017 - 06.2018
  • Studied monocyte driven inflammation and bone mineralization in pediatric chronic kidney disease (CKD).
  • Established a new multi-color flow cytometry panel for functional characterization of monocyte subsets in the lab.
  • Was the sole employee in a new lab and learned to work independently to balance research responsibilities with management of lab inventory and orders, and training of new lab members.
  • Involved in all aspects of research workflow from patient sample collection and processing to data generation, management, and presentation.

Drug Safety Associate Trainee

QuintilesIMS
Bangalore
08.2016 - 02.2017
  • Generated and processed adverse event reports for multiple drugs.
  • Worked on deadline-driven projects and developed great organizational and time management skills.

Teaching Assistant

SRM University
Chennai
09.2014 - 05.2016
  • Provided hands-on training in microbiology and molecular biology to undergraduate students.
  • Assisted teachers with classroom management and preparation of reagents and chemicals.
