Led the expansion of the data team from 3 to 7 direct report (data engineers), while delivering for the Data Hub on a variety of projects relating to various things the police force needed us to do. This included projects to set up live facial recognition feeds for the new vans being deployed not only to identify criminals but to identify the missing and vulnerable. I also led the teams daily huddle where we discussed priorities and who was doing what and if anyone needed technical support. Did the majority of the heavy lifting on a business case to move to MS Fabric for the Chief Officer Team to make a decision on improving the infrastructure. I also created the Data Products Working Group and set up Standard Operating Procedures for how to request data products. The organisation is a Microsoft shop and so my team and I work with Azure, SQL Server to store the data and SSMS to write and deploy SQL. Part of my role is to make the process of democratising data easier and explaining the technical in simple ways for non-technical colleagues, which is I believe is a key strength of mine.

Took a sabbatical as the market for data leaders was fairly slow

Led Data Engineering in the UK and subsequently took on responsibility for BI. Had eight direct reports and was responsible for directing their workloads and leading daily scrum. Data engineering involved inheriting thousands of scheduled jobs that run daily that used Python, bash scripting, SQL Server, and used scheduling and deployment tools such as Octopus as well as repositories in Azure Dev Ops. The role was player/manager so I had to coach and mentor the team but also get my own hands on code to deliver data products

• Identified and implemented software for data integration from multiple data sources
• Migrated all retail data from On-Prem MySQL database to GCP (775 tables and upwards of 100m rows of data)
• Integrated GoogleAds and GA4 data to create augmented dashboards
• Implemented multiple marketing reports in Google Looker Data Studio
• Identified areas for development and policies which need to be put in place relating to GDPR, drafted documentation
• Translated existing code (SQL & PHP) to GCP SQL in order to replicate existing reports

• Recruit, build and lead team from ground up, responsible for leading third party squads for delivery of data products in to GCP
• Manage relationships with two technology divisions, to ensure Openreach end to end needs are catered for, compliant with Group rules and delivered to time and budget
• Lead Cloud Transformation from On-Prem servers, including all decommissioning activity and education of wider team, to transform which data assets are used in statutory reporting, AI/ML, dashboards, to ensure continuity through change. Delivered >95% of On-Prem data to GCP
• Lead on specific projects to aid development of ML models to help predict complexity of engineering jobs, in order to prioritise and aid job planning process
• Educate wider teams in deployment of Cloud Technologies, including creation of processes to onboard new tools, where no such processes existed previously

• Design and deliver end to end Ignite Marketplace Apps architecture, including but not limited to Spotfire, Liferay, Oracle, HIVE/Impala.
• Devise, design and deliver Ignite Marketplace Apps, Equifax's Visualisation As A Service, to help B2B customers better understand their Consumer and Commercial clients.
• Designed and deliver Universal Design Standards, including pushing migration of code base to GitHub, as well as the introduction of SonarQube and Fortify on Demand, to ensure code deployed into PROD meets industry standards and does not open Applications to vulnerability.
• Collaborated with internal stakeholders, identifying and gathering analytical requirements for customer, product and project needs.
• Provided comprehensive analysis and recommend solutions to address complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources and applied advanced analytical methods to assess factors impacting growth and profitability across product and service offerings.

• Collaborated with Head of Data Science to provide strategies and solutions to complex Credit Referencing Data challenges.
• Worked with Head of Data Science to set recruitment strategy, as well as providing support/coaching, based on leadership experience.
• Coached, developed and motivated team members, providing coaching and mentoring to junior colleagues on Hive/Impala and Spotfire, committing Knowledge Transfer to cloud based Confluence pages.
• Design and develop Ignite Marketplace Apps infrastructure, in order to get Products ready for market.

• Delivered refresh of UK & Ireland Revenue data warehouse, alongside replacement of BI software being used (migrating from Oracle & Perl Warehouse and ETL, moving to Greenplum & Pentaho DI. Migrated from Cognos to Spotfire for BI tooling).
• Responsible for transforming reporting strategy for UK & Ireland.
• Developed and published 223 reports, creating 50 hours per month of Operational efficiencies.
• Developed Equifax Market View (Data Visualisation As A Service product) with Data & Analytics team, before being headhunted for promotion to that function.
• Created Equifax Global Data Visualisation network, arranging knowledge sharing and best practice set up, through use of Confluence pages.
• Design, developed and delivered training for team of over 200 users across UK & Ireland. Delivered in person roll-out, as well as assessment of all reporting needs rather than replicating what was being produced.

Overall accountability for development of BI strategy, for UK Retail and Business Banking Collections & Recoveries (C&R) and Barclays Business Servicing. Facilitating access to intelligence through IBM Cognos, which is used by thousands of users to make better informed decisions to improve organisations P&L. Responsibility was extended beyond C&R due to successful transformation.

• Recruitment and retention of World Class BI team.
• Ownership of Data Warehousing, following Kimball methodology.
• Small Change & Query Management model, driving down queries by over 50%.
• Personally drove efficiency, through BAU MI Rationalisation project, resulting in rationalisation of ~25% of reporting.
• C&R BI Transformation from existing Base SAS (between 10 & 20 million lines of code) to SQL Server 2000 and Cognos 8.4. Planning for further transformation, to SQL Server 2008 and Cognos 10.1.
• Development of A&I wide Customer Satisfaction surveys to baseline and build on existing customer experience.

Overall accountability for the development of BI strategy, for UK Retail and Business Banking Collections & Recoveries (C&R). Principle objective was to stabilise and rationalise a severely unstable SAS reporting environment and provide an effective decision making capability.

• Supported C&R Audit data for Internal and External auditors.
• Implementation of the Barclays Business Collections system.
• Reporting Rationalisation programme, to drive out efficiencies in the existing SAS environment.
• Identified and recruited talent to build a high performance culture and team.
• Created a culture of personal ownership, emphasising service improvement.

• Accountable for leading small and medium sized projects, to improve the Halifax Intermediary Sales function. Involved in a number of third party projects, working with external software houses and Intermediary firms. I chose this role to expand my knowledge of the end to end Project Lifecycle and specifically how Business Intelligence fits in to that.
• Delivering Operational Management Excellence – End to end process review for Intermediary Sales team across the UK, documenting all processes identifying key risks and areas for efficiency.
• Replaced Intermediary Registration Database, a database I was instrumental in defining in 2002/3, as the existing solution was coming to the end of its lifecycle.
• Automation of Daily Sales Reporting – reviewed existing Base SAS code (as the sole expert in SAS) and identified areas for efficiency, as well as creating an equivalent in SAS Enterprise Guide which could be automated.
• Acted as a mentor to a number of colleagues, inside and outside of Halifax Intermediaries, with a particular bias on colleagues in BI roles.

• Accountable for developing a multi-site reporting team, with the principle objective of creating and maintaining a suite of reporting related to Customer Service and Claims, with a bias on Claims reporting.
• Creation of Executive Reporting pack enabling multi-site comparison for the first time.
• Promotion of the Claims cube enabling drill up/down functionality to create deeper claim cause understanding.
• Creation of Central MI Reporting repository to create a one stop shop for all CS&C reports.
• Creation of Call Centre MI using ODBC to connect to a multitude of Call Centre technologies (Avaya, Symposium, Totalview etc).
• Exploitation of the link to workflow tool (Viewstar), enabling automated and real time reporting from the SQL server database and used as a Subject Matter Expert.
• Identified and recruited talent to build a high performance culture and team.
• Gap Analysis developed to understand training needs of the team, which in turn drove Colleague Opinion Survey scores positively.
