I am a highly motivated, dedicated and detail focussed 2nd year Microbiology student at the University of Leeds, with skills in molecular biology, immunology and laboratory techniques. I have experience in using standard laboratory equipment whilst maintaining adequate laboratory safety protocols. Throughout my first year, I have gained expertise in data analysis, statistical methods and lab reporting, which I look forward to developing throughout my time at university and a potential industrial placement.
Working as an outdoor water lifeguard enhanced my skills in many areas such as: communication, safety, teamwork and problem solving in high pressure scenarios.
The skills I demonstrated throughout my time as a lifeguard taught me invaluable lessons in responsibility, the importance of effective decision making and the cruciality of teamwork.
Throughout my time in hospitality I gained invaluable experience in interpersonal situations, sales and product knowledge, organisation and time management and collaboration:
During my time as a receptionist I gained valuable skills in organisation & administration, knowledge & engagement and also patience:
These skills can be retained and used further into my career and would be important in multiple roles but especially in lab and research situations.

Other skills learnt throughout employment
Maxillo-Facial department, NHS Lincoln
I undertook a weeks worth of work experience in this department in 2022, where I sat in on appointments and learnt valuable lessons in how to work effectively with experienced professionals, and how to undertake procedures like biopsies for cancerous cells. This enabled me to understand the specific margins tested for in a laboratory for complete eradication. I also realised the precision required and importance of accurate microscopy I found to be captivating.
GSK young professionals day work experience
This online day was my first introduction to how vaccines work and how the continuous research and development carried out in the company is crucial to the eradication of so many diseases worldwide. This experience inspired me to further expand my knowledge and undertake an undergraduate degree in Microbiology.
