Summary

I started my professional journey at Ron Dearing UTC and it was there that I found a passion for Graphic Design and video editing. I learned a lot during my time there and have since then implemented and furthered my knowledge within my work both at home and in the workplace.

It was when I moved onto starting my A-levels that I decided that a career path in graphic design/media was a perfect fit for me. So I decided to carry on with the course and work towards getting an A-level qualification. I was then able to create different campaigns, photography, designing digital and print graphics, logo design, product design and more.

I also created a fully functional website on Weebly.com, (https//.hullsites.weebly.com) as a part of my coursework for my iMedia course. Alongside my A-levels, I took an additional course with iDea, this entailed my working towards an extra qualification on how to stay safe online and in the workplace, this also involved other qualifications such as web design, creative design and game design. I also took part in an industry-led project with a well-known brand, generously offering me and other students a chance to work in groups to design a new product for manufacture. This project included designing packaging, improving/modifying the products, ingredients and a plan of action on how well it would sell, different pitching techniques and how I could utilise my skills to ensure it reached the right target audience and maximising reach and potential sales.

Another professional qualification I took part in was the Diversity and Equality training delivered by Reckitts Benckiser, I took part in an array of interactive tasks which gave me an insight into equality and diversity within the workforce, this allowed me to learn more about discrimination within the workplace against the 9 protected characteristics, how to spot it and what the appropriate action to take would be.

I was recruited as a Marketing Apprentice for Spencer Group in the September of 2022. My time at Spencer Group was a great opportunity for me to display all that I had learned whilst at Ron Dearing UTC and more. I was introduced to other software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, as well as social media and web design tools such as Metricool, WordPress, Canva and MailChimp (although my experience with MailChimp is minimal). I was able to create numerous social media posts, create and edit videos for internal and external use, create email campaigns for a product that Spencer Group plan on selling to multiple of their clients called 'Datacow'. I also co-created the Yearly Christmas newsletter 2022 and 2023 which was sent out to over 50,000 clients and received a majority of positive feedback.
