I am a final year GP Trainee managing a diverse population within a busy NHS practice. Independently managinhg a wide range of acute and chronic conditions under indirect supervision focusing on delivering high quality patient centred care

-Independently manages a comprehensive and varied list of patients by conducting a mix of face-to-face, telephone, and online
consultations, consistently ensuring the delivery of timely, holistic, and patient-centred care.
- Actively participates in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, collaborating closely with specialist nurses, pharmacists, and social
prescribers to develop and implement coordinated care plans for patients with complex needs.

• Medical Officer working across the Accident & Emergency and General Outpatient Departments at Ifako Ijaiye General Hospital, providing high-quality care to patients with a broad spectrum of acute and chronic conditions. Experienced in the triage and management of medical, surgical, and trauma emergencies, interpretation of investigations, resuscitation, and a wide range of practical procedures. In the outpatient clinic, I review patients with both acute presentations and long-term conditions, creating personalised management plans and arranging appropriate follow-up. I actively contribute to ward rounds, clinical audits, multidisciplinary teamwork, and the teaching of junior colleagues. I routinely manage 20–30 patients per A&E shift and ensure safe, timely admissions, discharges, and referrals.

I worked as a Medical Officer in a 30-bedded private hospital in Lagos, working 24-hour shifts on alternate days and providing care in outpatient clinics, A&E, and antenatal services. Worked closely with in-house consultants across paediatrics, medicine, surgery, and obstetrics. Responsibilities included clerking, examining, investigating, and managing patients from neonates to the elderly, as well as pre- and postoperative care. Conducted daily ward rounds, performed key procedures (including IV access, suturing, catheterisation, NG tube insertion, lumbar puncture, umbilical cannulation, and exchange transfusion), and assisted in major surgical procedures such as hysterectomies, myomectomies, caesarean sections, appendectomies, prostatectomies, and exploratory laparotomies. Provided counselling to patients on diagnosis, treatment plans, progress, and lifestyle modifications.

• Residential Medical Officer at the 103 Battalion Military Barracks Health Centre in Enugu during my National Youth Service year, responsible for running the outpatient clinic, assessing and managing a wide range of common medical conditions. Supported antenatal services alongside a consultant obstetrician–gynaecologist, conducted deliveries, and performed episiotomy repairs independently. Carried out procedures including IV cannulation, phlebotomy, MVA, suturing, and abscess drainage, and managed inpatient care with daily ward rounds. Organised preoperative assessments, assisted in major surgeries such as caesarean sections, hysterectomies, myomectomies, appendectomies, and laparotomies, and ensured timely referral of patients requiring higher-level care.

Completed a one-year internship ( FY1 and FY2 equivalent ) at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, rotating for 12 weeks each through Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, and Surgery, with all competencies signed off.

• Internal Medicine: Worked in the Clinical Pharmacology Unit, serving as first contact for A&E patients during calls. Responsibilities included clerking, examining, requesting investigations, and initiating management plans under supervision. Conducted daily ward rounds, prepared discharge summaries and charts, and attended clinics, grand rounds, and M&M meetings.
• Obstetrics & Gynaecology: Managed patients in antenatal and gynaecology clinics, acted as first responder for emergencies, and formulated initial management plans. Monitored labour, conducted deliveries, repaired episiotomies, performed MVA, and assisted in major surgeries (CS, hysterectomy, myomectomy, cerclage). Participated in clinical reviews and M&M meetings.
• Paediatrics: Rotated through the paediatric emergency, neonatal unit, and endocrinology unit. Assessed and managed common paediatric and neonatal conditions, and performed key procedures including paediatric cannulation, phlebotomy, umbilical cannulation, exchange transfusion, lumbar puncture, and catheterisation. Attended daily clinical meetings, grand rounds, and M&M reviews.
• Surgery: Rotated across urology, general surgery, and neurosurgery units. Clerked and stabilised emergency patients, assisted in major surgeries (appendectomy, laparotomy, cystectomy, nephrectomy, burrhole surgery), and performed routine procedures such as NGT insertion, catheterisation, cannulation, and phlebotomy. Took part in pre- and postoperative care, prepared operation notes and lists, and attended clinical and M&M meetings.

This internship provided comprehensive clinical exposure, procedural skills, and experience in both emergency and inpatient care across major specialties.
