Fintan Harman

I am an aspiring Engineering student with a strong academic background in Mathematics and Physics, and a particular interest in aerodynamics and aerospace engineering. Inspired by high-performance engineering in Formula 1, I am motivated to solve real-world problems through analysis, creativity, and practical design. I am experienced in independent research, teamwork, and leadership, with a clear ambition to contribute to future aircraft and performance engineering innovation.

• British Science Association CREST Award Project - I was selected to lead a team of 6 pupils from my school for our entry for the British Science Association’s Creativity in Science and Technology (CREST) Award. We were partnered with engineers working at Ricardo, a British engineering firm, and tasked with designing and building a wave-energy generator. My specific focus was to maximise efficiency from the buoy, capitalising on both its horizontal and vertical motion.
• Hockey - I am a keen hockey player. I am captain of my school hockey team and was also captain of Brighton and Hove Hockey Club’s U16s hockey team, until my promotion last year to the Men’s First Team. I now play for the first team at a national league level, and I intend to continue playing at university.
