I started work at The Hub as soon as I turned 14. I enjoy working and earning my own money. It has given me independence allowing me go out with my friends and having control of my own money. I have been involved in scouting for 11 years, starting as a Beaver and still attending now as an Explorer. Being part of scouting has given me lots of opportunities to learn outdoor skills and make friends. Being part of the scouting community has helped improve my social skills. I have been doing Brazilian Jujitsu for over a year which I love, I currently do 3 sessions a week, this has massively boosted my confidence in all areas.
Although I enjoy working at The Hub I have to rely on my parents for transport. Ideally I'd like a job closer to home that I can get to myself. I'm a person who is enjoys working in a team but I also don't mind working single-handedly. I am a Dependable person who is hardworking and I am a quick learner which allows me to easily adapt to new jobs. With over two years of work experience I have acquired Independence and Confidence.
In my experience working at the hub as a pot washer I improved efficiency in the kitchen by organising washed dishes for easy access, kept dishwashing area free from clutter, maximising space for more productive work and employed efficient soaking methods to soften stubborn food residue, leading to easier cleaning. As well as doing that I also helped out with food prep in the kitchen along with assisting chefs with meals to make the work flow in a lunch rush to go smoothly. Finally I often cleaned kitchen surfaces, swept and kept the working area clean since in a kitchen it is key to have a clean working environment.
As part of my bronze DofE I had to do a minimum of 13 hours of Volunteering over a 3 month period. Over this time I helped the orchestra set up for concerts in a local church, this included setting up seating, handing out programs and assist in setting up lighting.
