I have a strong interest in motorsport supporting McLaren and Lewis Hamilton since forever. I have learnt a lot about engineering and mechanics in my time in school and college while also gaining a lot of knowledge from watching many different types of motorsport many years. I'm dedicated to any job I'm given and always give my all, I am a quick and hands on learner. I usually learn more when physically doing the activity that I'm learning about which makes it easier to understand than someone just explaining it even though I can learn that way as well which is why I think mechanics is a good fit for me as there is a lot of hands on learning when in the garage.
I joined Halfords as my first full time job which includes the main parts of services which I fit car bulbs all different types, batteries oil top ups and wiper blades which expands my prior knowledge learning more stuff and going on different training I may not have experienced in a garage I also now know how to fit and remove dashcams into cars after being sent on a course so I know how to. With working here it also helps grow my confidence in customer service speaking to customers all day and helping them with whatever they are looking for. With my knowledge I can suggest suitable products to customers for enhanced shopping experience.
I completed a weeks work experience while at car supermarket and using my prior knowledge got stuck in straight away completing services on different types of vehicles and adding to my previous skills by putting myself forward for things that I may have not tried or pushing myself out of my comfort zone, like work with exhausts and bigger problems that needed fixing helping me grow massively in confidence in the garage and working on cars.
I completed my 2 week work experience at this garage, which helped me expand my knowledge massively of what it is like to work in mechanics.
I carried out many different tasks like the removal and refit of tires, full services on cars, vans and other types of vehicles.
I also helped in parts of MOT's and observing how these tasks were carried out giving me more knowledge on how to identify different faults and what these faults may look like or the problems they can cause.
While there I also completed other tasks like many different filters and also batteries. I was very punctual always turning up on time to work and in the correct uniform to start the day straight away and always being ready to learn new things and expanding my knowledge on repairing vehicles that I didn't know
I performed at various venues and memorised different routines for different occasions. I helped develop fun, engaging learning experiences for children of many different ages, performing at children's parties charity events etc...
While being at memory mascots in this industry it helped develop my customer service skills as i interacted with many different people whether it be helping guests or interacting in different costumes giving customers a time to remember, creating a warm and pleasant environment
