I am 22 years old from London, currently studying Mathematics at the University of Sussex, and I am a very outgoing person and love to spend a lot of time out of the house. I am an avid rock climber, mountaineer, runner, cyclist, and love to travel. I have worked continuously since the age of 16 to fund expeditions and live away from home, balancing working with studies and hobbies, and therefore have gained a lot of professional experience in the past 5 years within the hospitality sector.
Working in a very busy pub in the centre of Brighton has
given me the ability to work well under pressure, in an
environment where working as a team is crucial.
From this job, I have learned the importance of making
good connections with people, whether that be
colleagues, regulars, or first-time visitors.
I worked in 2 branches of Zizzi restaurants, Zizzi Bromley
and Zizzi Bankside. At Zizzi I completed waiter training programs and
worked in 2 very busy branches, learning about the
value of maintaining high customer satisfaction by
working as a solid team with all sectors of the restaurant;
the kitchen, the runners, the bar staff, the kitchen
porters, and the managers.
Pizza Express was my first team team-based job, which
introduced me to all aspects of the hospitality sector.
I learned how to open and close the restaurant often
alone, run food, use the tills, sympathize with customer
problems, and how to keep everyone happy.
I stayed at Pizza Express for about 5 months before
leaving to travel to Iceland, Spain, and Hungary during
my gap year.
Under this role I cleaned the passenger terminal at
Biggin Hill Airport, and with it I learned the importance of
customer satisfaction and maintaining high standards
from a young age.
