As an agency nurse I was often required to fill shifts at short notice. I had to orientate myself to new surroundings, patients and procedures quickly and with minimal support.
On any shift I would be required to dispense and administer medication to multiple residents, then I might change catheters (male and female), give insulin, do observations, attend patients in palliative care at the very end of their lives, support relatives,
Other skills I am competent with are : syringe drivers, Peg feeding, venepuncture, SC and IM injections
