Summary
I'm currently looking to get stuck into hands-on work. I did so as a Camp Counsellor which involved me working with two other 18-25 year olds to maintain a fun and enthusiastic environment for six 11-year-old campers. This role was very hands-on! It involved keeping calm in all manner of frenetically busy environments, in particular during camper meal times where around 100 campers would be lining up at a time, with tables tightly packed in line by line and spillages often occurring. I kept calm, kept my campers under control and kept organised to leave the hall in good time, and applied this same calmness to similarly chaotic environments involving deadlines for leaving around camp.

1 MonthI looked after six 11-year old campers for three weeks in a residential camp. I created games to entertain them. I made sure that they had all their belongings and found them when they had been lost. I managed interpersonal relationships with two co-counsellors to keep tabs on the mental wellbeing of the campers so as to notice when a camper's restlessness, lethargy or otherwise unwillingness to co-operate with the activity currently on offer (sports, meal time, assembly or bedtime). I worked in a chain of command and kept differences of opinion with my colleagues out of superiors' way.
