Key Responsibilities:
Deliver health and rehabilitation services to Musculo-skeletal conditions including cervical/neck pain, back pain, frozen shoulder, knee osteoarthritis, ankle sprain, sciatica, tennis & golfer elbow, ACL reconstruction rehabilitation, post-operative rehabilitation
Assessment
1. Subjective: history taking
2. Objective: Pain, Swelling, ROM, Muscle strength, Red Flags
Outcome measures: Gonio ROM, VAS, NPRS, Oxford Muscle Grading
Interventions: ROM exercises, Mobilization techniques-mulligan, Mckengi, Stretching and strengthening exercise, Spinal stabilization exercise, Guarded weight bearing and Postural correction.
Others:
Evaluate treatment outcomes and make adjustments.
Plan and organise patients management efficiently and effectively with regard to and use of time.
Participate in Continuous Professional development for ensuring high standards of services for the patients.
Train and develop team members.
Enhance administrative systems and procedures.
Help team members to ensure home visit.
Maintain records and guidance from superior.
Handle independent work load and support emergency situations as arises.
Assessment:
Subjective and objective assessment of common Musculoskeletal (Non-specific cervical or lumber pain, radiculopathy, Osteoarthritis, Tendinopathy, Sprain, post-operative stiffness), Neuromuscular (post stroke paraplegia, post operative spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy, peripheral neuropathy) and Traumatic Orthopaedic conditions (Fractures, dislocations, tendon rupture, spinal cord injury, amputation)
Management: Carry out effective individualized treatment plan and implement therapeutic interventions incorporating Manual Therapy (Mobilization techniques-Mulligan, Maitland and Mckengi concept, PNF technique, MET, Bobath, Modified CIMT), Soft Tissue Manipulation, Tailored strength and flexibility training, Electrotherapy, Patient education and Reassurance under the light of current evidence-based knowledge for the restoration of patient motivation and function.
Evaluation: Evaluate treatment outcomes and make adjustments with patient-focused methodology for best outcomes according to patients need.
Documentation:
Identify deficits in resources and materials required to carry out the services and maintain stocks
Ensure records of assigned cases and timely statistics with collaboration to the rehab team as requested by the hospital.
Organizational duties:
Participation in weekly clinical meetings and workshops as part of professional development.
Capacity building and care giver training for technical stuffs and carers.
Ensure highest standards of holistic clinical care for the patients under management, and support junior staff to do so.
Support Head of Department in developing and implying strategies & policies based on evidence-based practice.
Others:
Work with IDT and MDT in order to adapt holistic approach to patient with complex dysfunction.
Collaborate work with the team and therapy lead in developing the operational
management of the orthopaedic physiotherapy service.
Communicate effectively with patients and carers in order to maximise rehabilitation potential.
