2022 Uber Global Hackathon
06.2022 - 07.2023

Job overview

  • Finalist in the Europe Region

  • Worked collaboratively in a team
  • Used Figma to design a user interface for an app called ‘Blooming’ which was designed to combat the arising issue of obesity in teenagers.
  • The app allowed supervisors to input a limit on the amount of fast-food their child could consume per week/month.
  • We designed the app in a manner so that a user’s credit card transaction would be declined if the algorithms put in place detected that a user has attempted to purchase a food item from a fast-food chain beyond their limits.
  • The design of the app also included features like a 24/7 AI tool chat that communicates with users to answer any questions they have on their minds, sport matches with a list of nearby sports centres provided to the user by algorithms which take in their current location, workout videos, healthy recipe tutorials with a list of ingredients and where the user is able to purchase them (once again, using algorithms which take in the user’s current location).

Engineering Taster Week
06.2022 - 06.2022

Job overview

  • Designed a system/machine involving a user interface which would allow medicines for elderly people to be dispensed whilst keeping them out of reach of young children.
  • Aerospace Engineering: designed our own aeroplanes using provided materials and applied them to scenarios to ensure that the plane is able to fly at an appropriate speed at all times.
  • Computer Science: navigated a battleship through intricate maps of canyons, designed to be a maze by writing suitable lines of code in Python in order to propel the battleship. We also had to adapt certain lines of code to prevent the battleship from doing unwanted actions ie: bumping into the canyon or propelling backwards.
  • Civil Engineering: engineered infrastructures using wooden blocks and tape and continuously remodelled the infrastructures in order to ensure that it is able to withstand huge amounts of pressure.
  • Virtual Reality and AI: discussed the pros and cons of the development of virtual reality and AI and how it can impact future generations. We also zoomed into the use of robots that are set up for the primordial reason to assist the elderly in their daily lives, ie: acting as reminders to consume their medicine etc.
  • Used several different wires to investigate how an Arduino interacts with a computer system and tested it using Github.
  • Electric and Electronic Engineering: soldered a CMoy headphone amplifier DCW Rev 1.4 circuit with resistors and tested how it amplified the sound output of a headphone by connecting inputs onto the circuit board.

Education

Colston's Girls' School
Bristol

GCSEs
09.2021 - 06.2023

University overview

During my time at Colston's Girls' School, I was chosen by the vice principal of the school to take part in a BBC interview to represent my school, which was aired in February 2023. I was also an avid member of the school's Student Parliament, and a prefect - due to these positions and experiences, I was invited to a Venturer's Trust meeting held at the University of Bristol, wherein I once again had the opportunity to represent my school.

As a current year 11 student, I am awaiting my GCSE results. However, below, I have listed my predicted grades in each of my subjects:

Biology - 9

Chemistry - 8

Computer Science - 8

English Language - 9

English Literature - 9

French - 9

Geography - 7

Mathematics - 9

Physics - 9

I have also done a level 2 qualification in Further Mathematics, however, I do not have a predicted grade for the subject. (If needed, my most recent mock result for Further Mathematics was a grade 8.)
