My role as a sales assistant is to serve customers, restock shelves, aid in marketing. I have also maintained knowledge of current sales promotions helping customers make informed buying decisions and built strong relationships with regular customers for repeat business.
My job at Screech was to ensure the animals are well taken care off on the daily. My role included cleaning enclosures, preparing food, feeding, handling the mammals, flight training with the birds, assisting on educational talks to the public, assisting with animal health checks, and administering any necessary medication. I was given my own set of keys for all enclosures and gates around the park as well as, given a cb radio for easy communication between the other keepers and staff.
The Gatehouse is essentially a hotel for owners to board their pets while they are away. My role as cattery assistant included cleaning cleaning and sanitising suites and catios. Safely transferring animals between suits when needed. Verifying all animals receive consistent food and water according to care needs and following any veterinary instructions and care plans to administer medications. I was also involved in daily 'cuddle time', comforting and playing with the cats to reduce stress and boost welfare. On the administrative side, I gave prospective clients tours of the facilities and ensured records were kept up to date.
During my time at Paultons I shadowed each of the keepers in tern. Gaining knowledge on the individual species so I could assist in the hand on day-to-day husbandry. Other tasks I undertook, included, ensuring the enclosures and facilities were maintained to the highest possible standards, designating and implementing environmental enrichment activities to keep the animals stimulated and content.
At Liberty's I assisted staff in all aspects of the daily running of the centre. I helped with animal welfare, cleaning and maintaining the aviaries and enclosures. Preparing fresh and frozen food for all the different creatures. I also aided the trainers in handling the birds during flight training and spectator shows. I had my own set of enclosure keys and cb radio so I could attend any area of the centre where my help was required. I also volunteered to help in the refurbishment of the current café and converting a disused area into a children's soft play.
I was lucky enough to be chosen to shadow a specialist Equine vet for a day. During my time I assisted in clinic with a tooth extraction and steroid hip injection before going out on the rounds where I helped in dressing a foot wound, administering vaccinations, and a general health check which led to the horse patient needing a filling.
I was an All Star cheerleader for 13 years before I moved for university. During that time, I have competed at a variety of different ability levels. My teams have won both regional and national championships including a bit won in 2021 that invited us to compete at one of the largest cheerleading competitions in the world. The Cheerleading Summit held in Orlando Florida. I travelled with my team and we placed 4th out f the attending UK teams.
Aside from All Star Cheerleading, I also enjoy reading, working on my car, and looking after my variety of creatures/pets. I have 4 cats, 2 corn snakes, a blue eyed leucitic ball python, a bearded dragon, a fat tail gecko, 2 tree frogs, and 24 tarantulas.
