Evie Smith

My role at Winchester Cathedral perfectly coincided with my History degree. I spent my time carrying out tasks in the Kings and Scribes exhibition where i gave tours around the historical artefacts and was on hand to provide answers to the general public about the exhibition. During this role i also successfully:

• Carried out day-to-day duties accurately and efficiently.
• Quickly learned and applied new skills to daily tasks, improving efficiency and productivity.
• Demonstrated respect, friendliness and willingness to help wherever needed.
• Supported my team by demonstrating respect and willingness to help.

I quickly advanced in my role at the bed and breakfast. Initially hired as a cleaner, my dedication and strong work ethic allowed me to take on responsibilities in catering, administration, customer service and eventually lead a small team across multiple shifts. I successfully:

• Delivered on tasks within tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated respect, friendliness and willingness to help wherever needed.
• Worked flexible hours, covering nights, weekends and bank holidays.
• Consistently arrived at work on time and ready to start immediately.
• Cleaned work areas and equipment to maintain faultless hygiene standards.

This was my first job, and it came with significant responsibilities, particularly in working with young children and their families. My role involved supervising children on various park attractions and engaging with families to ensure they had the best possible experience during their visit. This involved:

• Upholding strict adherence to health and safety regulations amongst staff members, maintaining a safe working environment. This became particularly important during the Covid-19 pandemic.
• Gaining 1.5 years' experience working with children aged 1 to teenage years
• Building trust with children, resulting in a secure and comfortable environment.

Travelling to Costa Rica with World Challenge was the experience of a lifetime. Our mission was to support local communities in constructing safe water systems and building homes. Connecting with the local people gave me a profound insight into the stark differences in others' lives and i will always be grateful for the opportunity. It involved successfully:

• Participating in tutoring programmes
• Engaging with youth groups
• Adapting to changing circumstances and maintained positive attitude in challenging situations.
• Promoting cultural understanding
