Evie-Rose Avern

Extremely passionate and motivated psychology student with a strong work ethic. i am very willing and eager to learn many new skills in a SEN school placement position as it is a very strong passion of mine and is something i am looking into for a future career. I have already completed several volunteer positions and completed work experience in a nursery during secondary school so i feel as though i have a strong starting position. Due to my university work i have developed many skills that i believe will aid me in this role such as group collaboration, presentation skills, leadership skills and time management. I also currently have a part time job which has helped me adapt the way i communicate as well as customer service skills which will go far in the position i am looking for.

Volunteer Research Assistant 

• During my first year of university i was a research assistant for a PhD student who was researching into touch and relationships. During this time I learned many skills such as how to complete a literature review for research papers, how to critically analyse and interpret research papers
• During my second year of university which i am currently completing, i am a volunteer research assistant for another postgraduate researcher who is looking into the ways medical and psychological langhuage can create shame in diabetic individuals. During this time i will be learning how to c=transcribe interviews, how to carry out reflective practice as well as the process of carrying out a thematic and systematic analysis.

Senior Researcher 

• During my first year i also took part in eye tracking research where i was able to take the researcher role and collect data from participants, this paper will be published in the next year
• because of this i will now, in my second year, become a senior research in another eye tracking experiment and will be collecting data from first year psychology students as well as teaching them how i will be doing this.
