I decided to return to education after realizing I wanted to build a career writing for television. On this course, I have studied narrative theory and story structure in great depth, experimenting with different ways of constructing scripts. I also read a wide range of films scripts and lead discussions on their strengths and weaknesses before writing script reports. Additionally to this, we did intensive storyline training and I often lead my groups in pitching weekly episode ideas for Hollyoaks, which ultimately contributed to me being hired on a temporary basis as a Story Admin. The course has seen me complete two short film scripts as well as a hour-long TV pilot and feature length film script.
Specializing in writing, I completed several stage plays during my studies, largely focusing on issues of sexual violence, using a combination of spoken word, monologue, and naturalistic approaches to create a distinctive voice.
For my dissertation, I chose to write an academic article on how the concept of gender-communal-terrorism was explored in two plays about the Bosnian war.
Alongside my formal studies, I was artistic director of the Warwick Rep Theatre Company in my final year and curated a festival of new writing that ran once every term.
