I am a motivated, energetic undergraduate first year student, very keen in broadening my knowledge on medical sciences. I am also an excellent communicator as I have proven to work well with other leaders of a group. I am an organised, resilient student, and am willing to extend my knowledge on be able to lead, make critical decisions and work efficiently, which are all qualities that a doctor possesses.
As a Pharmacy Intern at Grove Park Pharmacy, I gained hands-on experience in a community pharmacy setting, working closely with pharmacists and healthcare professionals. My responsibilities included assisting with daily pharmacy operations, such as dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing customer service to ensure patients received accurate and timely information about their prescriptions.
I also supported the team in preparing medications, labeling, and verifying prescriptions under the supervision of licensed pharmacists. Through this role, I developed a strong understanding of the importance of accuracy, attention to detail, and patient confidentiality in pharmaceutical care.
Observing and shadowing healthcare professionals such as the doctors and the nurses was very interesting. I learnt the important of effective verbal and written communication skills, as seen between the patients and the colleagues. I also learnt some basic clinical skills such as medical histories and how doctors, in a short span of 10 minutes, can conduct physical examinations.
I really liked the OSO medical course as it was able to teach me how to work in a group.
