Observing and shadowing healthcare professionals such as the doctors and the nurses was very interesting. I learnt the important of effective verbal and written communication skills, as seen between the patients and the colleagues. Pschology research intern

Oxford University
Online
10.2021 - 11.2021
  • I think this internship was overall really good because I was able to learn a new aspect of medicine - specifically the behaviors of teenagers, who suffer from perfectionism.

  • I think this course was perfect as I was able to learn and relate to the things in modern day like.

  • I was able to work and collaborate with a group talented teenagers, who also were able to reflect upon the topic that was being taught to us. I was able to incorporate some new skills, such as communication, as we had to do tasks with specific individuals in breakout rooms.

  • I really liked the use of independent reading as well. The research paper was so fun to do, as we were all able to collaborate together and work as a team to produce something amazing.

  • I particularly enjoyed making the survey, as we were taught the official rules in making professional surveys. I liked distributing them and analyzing the data that we had collected

Medicine Intern

OSO
Online , Online
07.2021 - 07.2021

I really liked the OSO medical course as it was able to teach me how to work in a group.

  • We manage to work together as a team to make a presentation and discuss the key issues in pneumonia.
  • We were also able to use everything in the last two weeks to have the opportunity to actually talk to a real-life patient - I had the opportunity to take a history taking off a patient who had depression. This allowed me to have effective communication skills, which included reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • I also had to approach the patient in a way that was respectable, whilst showing compassion and empathy for the patient. In addition to this, the course allowed me to research beyond the depths, of whether euthanasia should be legalised in the UK.
  • This allowed to me have some more insight into the topic and the ability to deal with uncertainty as euthanasia is such a sensitive topic.
