I'm a motivated and hands-on school leaver interested in learning a trade and building a career in joinery. I enjoy practical work and I like using my hands to make and fix things. I am eager to secure the Joinery Apprenticeship with Sheffield City Council to develop professional skills while contributing to the maintenance and improvement of my city and local community.
Core Skills & Strengths:
Work Ethic: Punctual, physically fit, and prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Communication: Able to follow verbal and written briefings accurately and interact professionally with staff and members of the public.
Problem Solving: A logical thinker who enjoys figuring out how components fit together to create a finished product.
School Design & Technology Projects:
For my GCSE Design and Technology final project, I engineered a free standing storage unit specifically designed to organise gym equipment so they can be easily accessed by all age groups and wheel chair users. The project involved precise technical drawing and the use of CAD/CAM for certain custom brackets, resulting in a functional, durable product that addressed a real-world storage problem. This project allowed me to demonstrate my ability to take a complex brief from the initial sketch phase through to a high-quality finished build.
I think I would be a good fit for this apprenticeship because I am hardworking, reliable and willing to learn new skills. In school I enjoy subjects where I can be practical and creative, especially Design Technology. I work well with other people and I always try my best in everything I do.
Outside of school Hobbies: I have helped build a studio in my uncles garden learning and completing tasks like measuring, sanding wood, painting and using basic tools safely. These experiences have helped me become more confident and interested in joinery. I enjoy learning how things are built and I would like the chance to improve my skills by working with experienced tradespeople.
Sports Clubs: I am a member of my local UiS Boxing Gym with keen an interest in combat sports and fitness. This allows me to socialise with friends and also helps to teach younger students which I enjoy.
Volunteering & Charity work: I actively volunteer to support charitable work for the St Lukes Hospice and the Sheffield Children's Hospital. Activities such as Sponsored night walks and donation events are a great opportunity to give back to these great organisations that have helped me and my family in recent years.
This experience has helped me become a good listener to follow instructions well. I understand that being on time, working safely and showing respect are important in a workplace. I am also keen to learn from others and develop new skills for the future.
