Following my travel, I quickly regained employment at the same place of work but this time I was interested in more than just kitchen work and began to learn all different aspects of the restaurant, becoming well versed in roles such as serving customers and using tills. In June of 2023, I was promoted to Crew Trainer, chosen due to my teamwork and patience to help newer staff members with their understanding and embed them into their roles. Over the past year, I have gained a real understanding into the management aspect of the business, working alongside my managers on nonstandard maintenance and cleaning tasks, such as repairing and deep cleaning machines as well as being trusted with food quality control, ensuring all the food is at the correct temperature to be served, which highlights their trust in my ability with more responsibilities.

In November, I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and go see parts of the world I otherwise would not. As a solo traveler, I departed the U.K and flew to Australia, where I travelled up the East Coast from Sydney to Cairns enjoying a completely different lifestyle to what I had known previously. Before then heading to Southeast Asia to experience the unique cultures in places such as Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam. I learnt a huge amount from this time and felt that the experiences and living and breathing the many different cultures really helped me grow and mature as a person.

Worked predominantly in cooking and producing good food during busy periods and took pride in attention to detail. As I grew into my role, I quickly learnt all aspects to the kitchen and became valued as part of the kitchen – food and preparation team.
