Learning theory of what is involved in Nursing and getting attachment to hospitals settings to gain practical experience. During 3 years on nursing program did and still doing placements in Southmead hospital. I had experience of working in Surgical Vascular ward, Acute Theatre/Medirooms, Interventional Radiology/Surgical Radiology, Medical/Sroke Neurology, Bristol, North, Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) Vaccination program, Medical Surgery and Neurosurgery and Spines. Under the supervision of a Registered nurse, I have acquired skills I will mention and I am still progressing to further my learning and expertise. Taking of vital signs. Learned some medical terminology. Medicine administration follows the five rights. Nursing best practice following the code and the the seven platforms of future nurse. Being eight jobs in one person Care giver, Counsellor, Educator/Teacher, Communication, Advocate, Leader, Research Role, Collaborator. Documentation. NHS organisation standards to respect people difference, inclusivity and safety, compassion and respecting patients coming first. Process improvements and health checks. Toileting assistance and patient health monitoring. Injury assessments and treatment health planning. Patient examinations including ABCDE approach, performing CPR, manual handling and following ReSPECT (Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency care and Treatment). Interdepartmental collaboration and care planning. Patient behavioural management and patient relationships building. Patient rehabilitation assistance. The list is exhaustive each day is different. Clinical report writing using SBAR or SOAP.

I would be allocated work in different settings of care such as hospitals, nursing homes, people's homes etc. My duties would be to offer personal care when needed. Application of eye drops/eye ointment, ear drops. Simple dressings. Assisting in prevention of pressure sores giving advice or repositioning the patient. Changing and disposal of stoma appliance/incontinence appliances. Assistance with personal hosiery. Assistance with nebuliser administration and suppositories, enemas, pessaries. Any other product for intra - vaginal or rectal use. Administer oral tablets and injections.

Measured and recorded patient temperature, pulse and respirations throughout hospital stay. Conducted frequent health checks to measure effectiveness of treatment or recovery plans. Monitored patient health behavioural and physical changes promptly reporting concerns to ward manager. Documented care plans, hospital actions and patient activities in line with best practices. Maintained and updated digital patient records and medical information. Monitored patient progress identifying and proactively addressing obstacles hindering recovery. Assisted patients with bathing, meal assistance, toileting and mobility support. Remained up to date on latest treatment care improvements and regulations to facilitate continued patient satisfaction and wellbeing. Catered to patients needs throughout hospital stay by performing holistic assessments. Kept public areas clean and hygienic by performing routine sanitisation tasks.
