All round F&B professional
A dedicated team player with demonstrated training and problem-solving abilities. Excellent interpersonal and time management skills with seven years’ experience as a front-of-house team member.
I have worked for several years in catering and hospitality, beginning with a Belstead House, a residential education and conference centre in Ipswich. This involved welcoming guests, waitressing, preparing food, stock control, setting up training rooms, organizing Christmas festivities and maintaining standards in health, safety and food hygiene. I was always available to respond to needs and requests from the guests. The work was demanding but enjoyable.
When the conference centre closed down, I opted for agency contract work in waitressing and catering. The diverse work locations included Aurora, an upmarket restaurant in Ipswich, and contract waitressing for weddings, proms and other events.
I then worked for over a year at the Holiday Inn, Ipswich, mainly in Food and Beverages. This included both waitressing and bar work. The hotel is also a popular centre for conferences, weddings and other events, and I was frequently called upon set up and facilitate the proceedings. I even sang at one wedding to entertain the guests!
Since summer 2023 I have been a Team Member at the Holiday Inn Express in central Manchester, working on reception and in the restaurant. This is a busy, big-city hotel, often full with travellers, tourists and large parties, such as football fans. I try to keep a smile on my face, even when I am rushed off my feet!

My biggest reward at work is and has always been the costumers unexpected reviews and rewards.
My experience ranges from setting up meetings and conferences, to serving customers, supervising events and staff, working shifts and generally responding flexibly to any operational needs throughout the establishment.
Between 1997 and 2009, I was at various times a volunteer, a cleaner, administrative assistant and child minder. I also did voluntary work for various organizations and took many vocational courses.
My first permanent job was actually at Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique, as an administrative assistant, and then as a library assistant in the Faculty of Architecture where my passion for design and food started.
I like organizing social events and activities. In 2010, I organized a charity fund-raising concert at Dance East Ipswich, with a well-known Mozambican musician. I love cooking – especially fish! And I enjoy meeting new people, and finding out about them and how I can help them. In general, if something needs doing, I try my best to sort it out. I always give 100%.
I was active in earlier life in amateur theatre and have performed in Mozambique and Suffolk – I would like to get involved with such cultural activities again. I relax by growing vegetables, sewing, cooking or walking. I appreciate learning about other cultures, and want to travel to remote villages in different countries. My biggest luxuries are shoes!
I believe it is important to be resourceful and to never give up on achieving your dream, step by step. Learning is an ongoing process, and the responsibility for it is ours.
