Support and assist Biomedical Scientists through:

• Maintenance and preparation of equipment used in manual to automated laboratory methods.
• Designation of laboratory cleaning duties, waste disposal and maintaining bench stocks of consumables and reagents.
• Sorting and processing multitudes of laboratory samples which includes inoculation of samples onto culture media, processing urine samples on the automated urine analyser and stool samples for detection of H.pylori and C.difficle.
• Working as part of a team and rotate within all the different sections of the Bacteriology laboratory.
• Providing helpful and professional services to all visitors and telephone callers and assist, under the direction of qualified Biomedical Scientists, in the provision of a high quality service.

Assisted the cell therapy unit, which is part of the clinical research facility.
• Assisting with the processing of human donor pancreases for islet cell isolations; a 10 hour process that would take place out of hours.
• Maintaining and preparing reagents for use.
• Maintaining and experience of use of lab equipment for use such as class II microbiological safety cabinets, isolator, Cobe cell separator, etc.
• Making sure all documents and paperwork is completed to GMP and GDP standards

• Working and complying with HTA, GMP and MHRA standards

• Performing environmental monitoring, particle monitoring and cleaning in Grade B areas to EU GMP standards

• Maintaining and recording stock that is needed in the islet isolation process

• Preparing laboratory before use and decontaminating laboratory post use.
