Project History

Assistant Quantity Surveyor on the Sainsbury’s account, I was responsible for commercial management of multiple retail projects, including refurbishments, fit-outs, and minor works across the store portfolio:

• Sainsburys Santiago Roll out (£4.5m): works involving updating back of house kit to a large number of retail stores across the UK, including Coldstore installations, Floor Repairs and Bakery Equipment and Refrigeration
• Sainsburys Convenience Stores (£600k - £1m): This predominantly involved the fit out of Sainsburys convenience stores following developer shell construction, including in house M&E design and installation of Coldstores, Security Systems

Overview

• Subcontractor management; appointment, valuations and variations onsite through to agreement of final accounts.
• Maintained records with suppliers to ensuring thorough cost control of prelims.
• Produced profit plans, cashflows, monthly valuations and payment certificates with cost build-ups.
• Carried out takeoffs using BluBeam software tool.
• Predominantly operated under JCT Design & Build Contracts with brief experience with NEC.

Project History

• Beauchamp College Leicester £14m Refurb (Sep 19 - Sep 20): Learned to measure off drawings and produced onsite subcontractor valuations for steel encasements, carpentry, partitions, fire stopping and flooring.
• Platform 21 Birmingham £18m CAT B Fit Out (Nov 20 - Dec 21): Carried out site management rotation where I assisted in progress and quality records of trades, H&S compliance, sequencing of works and CCS Scheme.
• Victoria Law Courts Birmingham £13m Grade II Refurb (Jan 22 - Feb 22): Produced methodologies for electrical and fire system updates including associated carpentry, ornate plastering and decoration works. Further works included refurbishments of windows, radiators and roofing.
• National Probation Office Leicester & Nottingham £9m Refurb Mar 22 - Dec 22): Works included strip out of existing partition walls, M&E and flooring to update with new layout and M&E systems. Assisted in external valuations to for the PQS on a monthly basis.
• Dosthill School £3m New Build (Jan 23 - Nov 23): 6 classroom extension including surrounding earthworks, landscaping and demolition of old classrooms. On this project I was responsible for the procurement and variation management of 25 plus packages, filling in for the redundancy of the Senior QS.
• Emerge Surf Birmingham £300k PCSA Stage (Mar 24 - Aug 24): Monitoring changes in design and RIBA Stage 3 drawings, submitting tenders to 120 plus subcontractors and updating cost plans to reflect and agree the contract price.
• Moseley Road Baths £11 Refurb (Aug 24 to Sep 24): Brief assistance on site, taking ownership of procurement of the following packages; lifts, carpentry and masonry works.
