Work history

Young leader for Girl Guiding

Joe Tomkins
Effingham, Surrey
2025.11 - 2026.03

As a Young Leader, I supported the planning and delivery of meetings tailored to a wide range of ages and neurodiverse needs. This included organising games, preparing sessions, and assisting with the delivery of activities. In addition to leading activities, I worked closely with other leaders and helped maintain a positive, respectful environment for all participants.

Overall, my volunteering experience with Girlguiding has strengthened my confidence. It has enabled me to build strong relationships with other leaders and further develop my patience, empathy, and ability to support younger members effectively.

I also volunteered at a Year 5 and 6 netball tournament, where I refereed matches, kept scores, and ensured teams were correctly organised with players in the right positions. I supported the smooth running of the event by encouraging and guiding younger players, helping to create a positive and fair environment for all participants.
