Work History

Sales Advisor Apprenticeship

Superdrug
04.2022 - 05.2023
  • I successfully completed my sales Advisor apprenticeship with a distinction, gaining practical experience in customer service, teamwork, and problem-solving in a busy retail environment.
  • I developed strong communication skills and learned to take responsibility for my tasks while consistently following procedures to a high standard.
  • By always putting customers first, I built loyalty and trust, ensuring a positive experience for every customer.
  • This taught me the importance of attention to detail, patience, and professionalism- qualities that are directly transferable were working carefully; following instructions, delivering reliable, high-quality work is essential.
  • Completing my apprenticeship and receiving recognition for my work also helped me grow in confidence, enabling me to take on challenges, make decisions, and trust my abilities.

Team leader Apprenticeship

Superdrug
  • After my first apprenticeship, I carried on to my Level 3 Team Leader qualification as soon as I turned 18.
  • Here I was responsible for running the store efficiently, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, safe checks, banking, change runs, and cash pick-ups.
  • I acted as the face of the company, ensuring customers received excellent service, and always representing the brand professionally.
  • I supported and guided team members, delegated tasks, and motivated staff to achieve targets, while maintaining a positive and productive working environment.
  • A key part of my role was handling difficult or unhappy customers with patience and professionalism, resolving issues calmly, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • By having this level of responsibility, I can remain level-headed and not get distracted.
  • Although it was an apprenticeship, I studied 'off-the-job' training, gaining insights into how a business operates internally. I learnt about laws and legislation affecting the workplace, including health and safety requirements, employment law, and compliance regulations, which has taught me the importance of following rules.
  • I also developed awareness of diversity and inclusion, understanding how to support and motivate a team, while respecting individual differences, and promoting a positive working environment.
  • Additionally, I gained knowledge of business finance, including budgeting, and monitoring sales, which helped me understand how decisions impact overall performance.

Although I am grateful for my opportunities in my previous roles, I have realised that I am highly goal-driven and thrive in roles where I am practically challenged and able to apply problem-solving skills. This is what has inspired me to pursue a career in electrical engineering, where I know I can excel and be fully engaged in a role that tests my abilities. I am now focused on building a long-term career in a trade that matches my ambitions and strengths. While I may not have previous experience in electrical work, I am a quick learner, highly motivated, and willing to work hard to be successful.
