WATFORD GENERAL HOSPITAL
-Worked collaboratively with Nursing staff in carrying out specialized care of patients needing day surgery.
- These included patients requiring gynecology, breast, urology, ophthalmology, general, vascular and orthopedic procedures. These involved pre, during and post-operative care, assessment, facilitating same day discharge as well as management of pain and nausea, oral drug administration and wound care.
-Admitting patients and ensuring adequate medical care is given to acutely ill patients by identifying medical issues, determining severity, provide immediate support to minimize negative long-term effects and facilitating patient flow accordingly
-Assisting with personal care while maintaining dignity of patients, carrying out admissions assessments on patients to ascertain necessary care plan, vital signs monitoring and escalation (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability and Exposure) by checking Respiratory rate, Heart rate, Blood pressure, Temperature and Glasgow Coma Scale.
-Examining patients' skin for Moisture lesion and Pressure ulcers and necessary escalation, Positioning and repositioning of bed bound patients using proper moving and handling techniques, Blood Glucose and Ketone Measurement, Taking patients weight/upper arm circumference, BMI calculation.
-Carrying out 12 Lead ECG, oral, subcutaneous, rectal and topical medicine administration (under supervision), simple wound dressing, feeding and malnutrition assessment using MUST tool and implementing and monitoring fluid and food balance charts while working with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure holistic care of patients.
