I am an experienced motivated substance misuse practitioner who enjoys working with in social care. I have positively contributed to the person-centred Wirral recovery-oriented model, as well as the harm reduction and maintenance models of treatment. I have achieved along with other team members, positive changes to drug treatment services in both recovery focused interventions and harm reduction-maintenance models, supporting clients with complex needs incorporating the support of their family /carers members.
I took voluntary redundancy in January 2020, my employer was Change Grow Live, Wirral Ways to Recovery, I was employed for 5 yrs as a Recovery Coordinator.
Previously I was employed for 12yrs by the flagship drug treatment provider NHS Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Drug and Alcohol service, Within my role as a substance misuse practitioner initially one of my of my projects was to develop safe drug treatment provision within the "Hostels" I have worked in the substance misuse field since approximately 2001 including both statutory and non statutory services.
Throughout my career I have been worked as bank staff in Rosebrae hostel, YMCA hostel, Mary Cole House and the Women's Refuge.
Developing links with both statutory and none statutory community agencies, to provide, health , education and skill based activities for residents. Facilitating group work, one to one support with complex clients, supporting clients diagnosed with mental health and substance use.
Working alongside caseworkers and external support workers enabling recovery orientated co ordinated recovery plans for the residents.
Creating an evidence based data collection for evaluation of engagement and reporting evidence.
Manage the controlled drinking HUB, linking in with the support team members sharing on a daily basis information for clients health and wellbeing.
Engagement with both statutory and none statutory services, to enable support/referrals for client group into identified services.
Facilitate group work to enable harm reduction and alcohol education.
The aim and purpose of developing JourneyMEN (JM) was to provide a hub for men only, where they could co- produce an Asset based community to support their wellbeing and mental health. I became involved with JM in a volunteering role initially throughout the pandemic, my role developed into a paid role as Lead case manager and director.
