Undergraduate Research Project – Effect of the activation of astrocytes on the Blood Brain-Barrier

· Performed Histochemistry processes on mouse brain slides to understand changes in neurogenesis after exposure to different antibodies.

· Analytical programme which plots the data recorded onto a graph and calculates different values such as EC50 and LC50.

· Set up microscope slides with and without staining to view under a microscope

· Use of a haemocytometer to count white blood cells including macrophages and neutrophils.

Gut Bath – Laboratory Practical

· Performed as a pair in a routine to consistently flush the drugs and redo the testing at different concentration, making sure the ileum doesn’t become sensitised

PCR and Gel Electrophoresis – Laboratory Practical
