Through both my professional positions and ambitious voluntary achievements, my passion and drive to improve the lives and experiences of people, in particular disadvantaged children and young people is evident. This, I am wholeheartedly committed to. My unique, varied and vibrant experience, gives me a rare combination of skills and qualities, underpinned by a steely resolve to successfully generate change. But my commitment and drive is fine tuned by my personal life experiences. Through being adopted at 12 weeks old, enduring witnessing the gruelling terminal illness of a parent and then suffering the grief of losing that parent at 12 years old, it is undeniable that these life changing experiences would glimmer through my life.
I was 20 years old, when, as a voluntary youth worker, I first identified a demographic of young people, vulnerable teenage girls, who were in great need of support to build relationships and skills to help them develop and thrive socially, emotionally and academically. But the support available to them to enable this was severely lacking. I sought to fill this need, and grew a nurturing and life changing group for these girls. The group was called 'Treasure', I am still in contact with these girls, now flourishing adults, fourteen years later.
The momentum began here to impact, improve children and young people's lives and empower children and young people, to confidently take their place in their world.

Working on a consultancy basis for Earth Warriors Global, to fulfil a collaboration project with Their World (https://theirworld.org/). I designed and facilitated workshops to drive one of Theirworld's strategic goals in supporting project partners to integrate Climate Awareness in their projects' activities. The workshops were co-created with three individual project partners; BRAC International in Tanzania, Hatua Network in Kenya and Chance for Childhood in Ghana. The aim of the workshops was be to equip teachers to understand children and young people's feelings and knowledge on climate change, give them a technical introduction to the topic, discuss solutions that can be implemented at an individual and community level and help them design and deliver one Climate Awareness activity to their chosen audience. Each workshop was co-designed with each individual organisation, to ensure that the content and goal was aligned with the specific context, mission and aims of each individual organisation. Ages of students the organisations were focusing this work towards varied (BRAC, 13 - 20 year old students, Hatua, 18 year old students and Chance for Childhood, 3 - 8 year old students). This informed the initial research, content and delivery. The Training of Trainers workshops, were delivered to 26 leaders, who then disseminated the training to teams and integrated it into their curriculum. Reaching and impacting circa 1500 students, with rippling impact in their immediate communities.
“I really like the honest yet hopeful approach Earth Warriors takes to teaching about climate change. I particularly like the way the program encourages youth to work as a group and also advocate for change within their schools”. Gabrielle Fondiller, Director of Hatua Network.
“The training has enabled me to understand and know the impacts of the climate crisis. It has empowered me with knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to act as [an] agent of change”. James Ndago Hatua Network
