During my work experience at Robyn & Rozy, I was actively involved in a variety of tasks that allowed me to build my confidence and develop essential skills in a professional salon environment. My primary responsibilities included washing clients hair, where I learned the importance of providing a relaxing and enjoyable experience for customers. I also welcomed clients into the salon, ensuring they felt comfortable and well taken care of as they arrived for their appointments. This role helped me to significantly improve my communication skills, as I engaged in conversations with new people, making them feel at ease. Additionally, I gained hands-on experience in washing colours and toners off, which deepened my understanding of hair treatment processes. My time at Robyn and Rozy was invaluable in building my confidence and refining my customer service abilities in dealing with different clients.
At Hull College's Training Salon, I completed the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing, which equipped me with a wide-ranging skill set essential for a career in the hairdressing industry. This qualification involved hands-on training across various areas, each contributing to my development as a well-rounded professional.
Throughout the course, I gained in-depth knowledge of the hair industry, with a strong emphasis on health and safety protocols, ensuring that I could maintain a secure environment for both clients and colleagues. I became adept at conducting client consultations, where I learned to listen carefully to clients' needs, offer expert advice, and tailor services to meet their expectations.
My practical skills were further developed through extensive training in shampooing and conditioning the hair and scalp, where I mastered selecting and applying the appropriate products for different hair types. I also learned how to effectively promote products and services, enhancing my ability to make informed recommendations that contribute to client satisfaction and loyalty.
Additionally, I acquired essential cutting techniques for women's hair, as well as the skills needed to colour, lighten, and perm hair. My training included the art of dressing hair, where I learned to create various styles, and scalp massage, which added a relaxing touch to the client experience. I also gained valuable experience in salon reception duties, where I learned to manage appointments and provide excellent customer service.
At KLM Studios, I was entrusted with supporting the stylists in a fast-paced salon environment. My duties included washing clients' hair, a task that reinforced my ability to deliver consistent and high-quality service. I also assisted the stylists by passing foils during colouring sessions, which allowed me to observe and learn about the technical aspects of hair colouring and the precision required. Additionally, I maintained a clean and organised workspace ensuring that the salon remained a pleasant environment for both clients and staff. This experience at KLM Hair Studio not only enhanced my practical skills but also taught me the importance of attention to detail and teamwork in delivering excellent customer service.
I have a wide range of hobbies and interests that reflect my passion for creativity, discipline, and connection with nature. One of my main hobbies is playing the guitar, a skill I have nurtured since childhood. Initially, I took formal lessons, but during the lockdown, I transitioned to teaching myself. This experience not only deepened my love for music but also strengthened my self-discipline and perseverance as I continued to develop my skills independently. Another significant passion of mine is horse riding, an activity I have been engaged in from a young age. Horse riding provides me with a sense of freedom and a deep connection with animals, which I find incredibly fulfilling. My love for animals extends beyond riding, as I truly enjoy spending time around them and caring for them. In addition to music and horse riding, I have a background in ballet, tap dancing, and gymnastics. I dedicated several years to ballet and tap, participating in exams where I consistently achieved merits and occasionally distinctions. I also had the exciting opportunity to perform in shows at Hull New Theatre once a year, an experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. These activities taught me the value of hard work, precision, and performing under pressure, while also fuelling my love for the arts.
