  • My role as a Resource Dispatcher consisted of

managing the deployment and allocation of a range of resources. I maintain accurate and detailed records to assist with retrospective investigation of complaints and clinical incidents. My other responsibilities for this role include:

  • Managing emergency situations effectively to minimise disruption in services.
  • Operating radios and other communication equipment proficiently during emergencies.
  • Prioritising completing high-volume tasks with impeccable time management and schedule coordination.
  • I work 12 hour shifts on a full-time core rota.

Emergency Call Coordinator

  • During my first year in the service, I took on the role of an ECH. This consisted of taking 999 calls and triaging patients to provide the most appropriate medical response.
  • As a call coordinator, I continued with 999 calls and triaged patients. However, I also undertook other roles to support the dispatch team. Working on DDS and PD09, I completed welfare checks, triaged with METPOL, organised LFB and other emergency services, and took BLUE priority calls.
  • I worked 12-hour shifts on a full-time core rota of 37.5 hours. Within this role, I can understand the type of patients who may need further help from other services.

  • Starting as a weekend team member, the role consisted of serving customers and handling money exchange. This experience improved my communication skills with customers, other team members, and managers.
  • As a senior team member, I took on a leadership role. This role required more responsibility, such as acting as manager when necessary, opening and closing the shop, and cashing tills.
  • Stepping into this leadership role of Senior Team Member was significant in my professional journey. This responsibility has not only allowed me to grow as a person but also to become someone who can effectively lead a team while maintaining equal respect for all staff members.
  • I would work between 6-12 hours each shift. While I was contracted to 37.5 hours, at times, I would complete up to 48 hours a week to support my team
