Extra-curricular activities

Recycling Project, Holyrood Academy, Chard January 2018

A group, consisting of me and three other girls decided to fix our secondary schools issues with recycling. We proposed a plan to update all the bins: making them easy to understand which type of rubbish belongs in which bin. Global warming and environmental problems were a big concern to us and by completing this project we made a steady progress in convincing others to do their bit in saving the planet. I have extended this into my professional career by maintaining a focus on sustainability.

Work Experience

  • Robert Frith Opticians, Chard
  • January 2018
  • During my time at Holyrood Academy, we were asked to complete a weeks work experience at a place of our choosing. I chose to work at an opticians, as it was something I had considered as a possible career in the future. This week opened my eyes to providing excellent care and service to customers, which I have gone on to use in other employment.

Fun runs

  • DiabetesUK
  • DiabetesUK is a very important charity to my family and I, due to the fact that my sister unfortunately struggles with the disease. My mum would annually organise a 5k run to raise money for this charity and I would help specifically with organising marshals and providing information on the day to runners and donors. This gave me good experience in hosting and organising events, which I believe to be useful skills in my future career.
