In my current role as a geography teacher I have been responsible for promoting learning and understanding of my specialist subject Geography as well as my second subject RE While in this role I have also gained experience in teaching Culture, Society and Identity (CSI), ICT, PL and History at KS3 and KS4 Within the Geography department I have develop effective professional relationships with colleagues, knowing how and when to draw on advice and specialist support This has allowed me to continue to ensure my knowledge and understanding of the use of data continues to develop in order for students to reach or exceed their aspirational targets As well as recognising the importance to plan carefully to ensure all students in my classes are making aspirational progress with learning I have also been working collaboratively with the Geography department to prepare resources and create or schemes of work that provide exceptional learning structures and resources which are differentiated to support the learning of all individuals within a class setting This I believe to be a very transferrable skill which could be integral to motivating and leading a team in another business Having chaired the Geography Eastleigh consortium for five years I have been able to lead meetings and give advice and share ideas between the consortium schools It has also allowed me to further promote the hard work of my department I have also organised and delivered the annual meeting of schools to bring different school organisation's together This has enabled me to help develop my co-ordinational skills and understanding of working with other organisation's outside of the class room This has allowed me to further promote links with multiple colleges and school Having managed the More Able and Talented program at my former school this has put me at the forefront in terms of my knowledge of new strategies to further promote and enhance the learning of more able students in my classes and across the department While in my current role I have been responsible for both running and staffing day and UK/International residential trips which has required communication with a number of different travel companies and also accountability for financing This has not only further developed my personal organisation, reliability and team skills but also given me the platform to promote and enthuse the students attitudes towards geography I feel through my experiences in my current position I have gained the experience to support, inspire and encourage It is my belief that by remaining enthusiastic, stable and motivating I can create a diverse, exciting and thought provoking challenges
