I am an enthusiastic educator who is passionate in helping children achieve their potential through learning and play. I am hard working and dedicated to providing the best opportunities for children to thrive. I am a compassionate and nurturing individal with a strong understanding of children's rights and how to impliment these within my practise. I have well developed communication skills and can work and contribute as part of a team. I also feel confident using my skills and knowledge when faced with solo challenges and can work independently when required.
I am confident in my understanding of child development from working with children aged 2-5 years. With this I am able to provide activities that are both engaging and challenging for children which help them to learn and grow through play. I provide experiences that are inclusive and accessible to all children, making each individual feel valued and represented through my practice. My well developed knowledge of the curriculum helps me give children opportunities to develop holistically - I have used my knowledge of frameworks such as the curriculum for excellence, Being me and GIRFEC. Since becoming a key worker for a group of children aged 2-4 years I have gained confidence in tracking their learning, recording their progression through observation and communicating with parents. I have been educated on the importance of children’s care plans and how to keep this up to date. I know the importance of using outdoor spaces and the local community to help children explore and learn how the world around them works. I have been a part of many community links such as visits to a local care home allowing children to learn the importance of empathy and kindness for others. I am knowledgeable on the importance of safeguarding the children in my care and ensuring all children feel nurtured, safe and advocated for. I have developed an ability to confidently identify the different ways children express their needs through working with children who have ASN such as Autism and ADHD. Children will use behaviour or non - verbal communication as a way to seek support from adults and it is important we notice this and provide them with the care they need. I have become confident building close, trusting relationships with families and understand the importance of this as we become the team around the child supporting their developmental journey.
