Affiliations

I have a passion for reading, history and horse riding, and I enjoy combining these interests whenever possible. Exploring historic landscapes, heritage sites and the countryside on horseback allows me to connect with the past while enjoying the outdoors, often rounded off with a riverside lunch and a good book.

Personal Interests & Strengths

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring the countryside, walking, undertaking DIY projects and organising community activities. I currently reside on a smallholding, where I take great pride and enjoyment in managing the land and caring for my animals. Maintaining a smallholding requires commitment, resilience and strong organisational skills, with animals requiring consistent care and attention 365 days a year, regardless of weather, personal commitments or other demands.

I believe this reflects my exceptionally strong work ethic, sense of responsibility and ability to remain dependable under pressure. It has further strengthened my skills in planning, problem solving, prioritisation and adapting to unexpected challenges, whilst reinforcing the importance of commitment and accountability.

I enjoy learning new skills, embracing new challenges and continually developing both personally and professionally. I value teamwork and collaboration and enjoy building positive relationships with others, whilst also being highly self-motivated and comfortable working independently. I am confident managing my own workload, using initiative and taking ownership of tasks and projects to ensure they are completed to a high standard.

I am also a parent to three children, who require every bit as much resilience as my smallholding and, quite often, even greater patience. One of my children has complex learning needs, and this has played a significant role in shaping my career journey. My desire to better understand the systems, processes and support available to individuals and families led me towards a career in social care and learning disability services. Through both my professional and personal experiences, I have developed a strong passion for supporting others and a thorough understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the sector.

Whilst I remain passionate about this area, I now feel that the time is right to explore a career that aligns more closely with my own personal interests and long-term aspirations, rather than being driven primarily by my desire to understand and navigate the social care system. My personal passions include history, countryside and natural space management, conservation, species and invasive species management, plant life, biodiversity and environmental sustainability. I am particularly interested in how people, communities and organisations can work together to protect and enhance natural environments for future generations, and I am excited to explore opportunities where I can apply my extensive transferable skills in a new and rewarding field.
