Summary

I am versatile hard working individual with a strong foundation in mechanical skills. This is demonstrated by hands-on experience in motorcycle restoration, including the successful full strip and on going rebuild of a 1980s Honda CX500. I am a logical thinker, who is able to apply the basic principles of engineering and physics to a broad range of problems. I enjoy working as a member of a team and understand the importance of clear communication and personal accountability. I am also able to demonstrate creativity and perseverance through extensive musical training in violin and piano, as well as teaching myself guitar, drums and bass. This creativity is also demonstrated with carpentry projects such as designing and building a wooden chest and a Japanese zen garden. I have demonstrated personal resilience and organisation in undertaking a number of European motorcycle tours. My experience working as a chef has allowed me to develop a range of important team based skills and time management as well as learning how to constantly strive for improvement.

  • Worked in the Ridge Birmingham office for two weeks learning about Building Services Engineering particularly mechanical engineering. Used two weeks annual leave to gain this experience.
  • I learned the basics of IES Vista and AutoDesk Cad to complete tasks set out for me, which I completed more quickly than was expected.
  • Used IES Vista to draw and model heating, cooling and energy use for a school and a fire station.
  • I produced a written report on comparing different means of heating buildings (e.g. gas, electric, heat pump) from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective.
