Ellie-Mae Young

Summary

  • I am a very capable, mature and confident young woman who is hard-working. Furthermore, I am outgoing when it comes to interacting with other people. One of my strong traits is having a good attendance and punctuality throughout my time in school. I am determined to try my best in all aspects and challenging situations that will be my future. I am also willing to do all tasks that I am asked, when I am asked and not any later.
  • I enjoy helping young and old people to achieve what they would like to as this is giving me the satisfaction of knowing I am making other people happy at the end of it. I enjoy setting targets to work towards different things as they are a challenge for me which is also helping to boost my confidence. I also try to attend earlier than expected rather than being there on the actual time I'm due to start to achieve good time keeping skills and therefore if there's any extra work needed done, I can do it in that time.
  • As a Young Carer I have represented Macmillan in their publicity and literacy, disseminated to the public to raise awareness and effects of cancer on a young carer and their family. Booklets, video clips and leaflets have been distributed widely across the country, which I have featured in. Within the months July/August 2016 I took part in the John Muir Award at bronze level at Boldon Lodge with some of the Young Carers group. It’s an environmental award scheme for people of all backgrounds – groups, families and individuals. It’s non-competitive, include and accessible. The skills I learnt from this were: -Leadership skills (by taking important roles within the group) -Team building (we had to make a working raft together as a unit and learner to listen to everyone points and consider using then in our team building activities. -Helping the community (by tidying up a footpath e.g. pulling out nettles and putting down wood chipping instead)
