As Head of the language department, I am responsible for SOW, curriculum maps, stretch and challenge across a range of abilities and supporting my co-workers by overseeing their lesson plans, assessments, book scrutiny and reports.

As Head of French, I plan thoroughly and deliver lessons to students in KS3, KS4 and KS5. My forte is the A-Level syllabus to which I am able to bring a lot of experience.

I am passionate about planning and delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum.

My key responsibilities are:

Develop and implement policies and practices which echo the school's commitment to provide effective education to all pupils.

To ensure the department is working consistently to implement and improve the schemes of work, that assessments are set and marked accordingly with constructive feedback and adequate information on how the work may be improved.

To deliver exciting and engaging lessons to all students in KS3, KS4 and KS5. To teach AQA GCSE and AQA A-Level syllabus with very unique resources used in my own education having attended a French school as well as bringing vibrant synonyms, idioms and extraordinary vocabulary, verbs and sentence structure to encourage the students to achieve A* grades.

To mark, feedback and do regular book scrutiny to monitor the students progress.

To write full reports, liaise regularly with parents and to update schemes of work and resources to create exciting well planned lessons.

To ensure pupil's achievements are accurately recorded and that realistic target grades are set.

To ensure classroom management is implemented in a calm and happy way and that the classroom itself is adorned with inspirational work created by the students as well as useful information.

I have been incredibly lucky to have been involved with tremendous projects alongside my teaching posts which include taking a youth brigade of 160 young adults to Normandy for the DDAY landings. This has been transformed into a book and a DVD and I was an essential part in coordinating the 14-day experience. My links with the French government alongside my interpreting and translation skills, helped in attaining road closures and several VIP requests.

My mission was to encourage a passion for languages and to allow the students to develop good intonation and a love to continue learning French going into secondary school.
