I gained employment as a cleaner at the Govan shipyards under Mite as a temporary way to fill my time between college courses. My daily responsibilities were as follows:

  • I maintained high standards of cleanliness and hygiene by daily dusting, hoovering, and mopping.
  • I managed trash removal, including proper sorting and disposing of recyclables and food bins.
  • I used a colour-coded cleaning system along with a variety of products to ensure bathrooms, kitchens, changing rooms, and dining areas were sanitized appropriately and to the best of my ability.
  • I worked a variety of shifts, such as day, night, and backshift.
  • Monitored cleaning supplies and ordered more when necessary.
  • Adhered to health and safety regulations to maintain a safe environment, as there were specific regulations for different areas.
  • As part of the hiring process for this position, I completed a PVG check.

Store Assistant

Additional information

I have been teaching myself Spanish for pleasure for years. To keep myself motivated during lockdown, I completed a Spanish online course delivered by the University of Glasgow. I have grown different social media pages throughout my life for fun, giving me a fantastic in-depth knowledge of online promotions, sales, videography, editing, and so much more. These pages have reached tens of thousands of followers. It's a passion of mine.
