I gained employment as a cleaner at the Govan shipyards under Mite as a temporary way to fill my time between college courses. My daily responsibilities were as follows:

• I maintained high standards of cleanliness and hygiene by daily dusting, hoovering, and mopping.
• I managed trash removal, including proper sorting and disposing of recyclables and food bins.
• I used a colour-coded cleaning system along with a variety of products to ensure bathrooms, kitchens, changing rooms, and dining areas were sanitized appropriately and to the best of my ability.
• I worked a variety of shifts, such as day, night, and backshift.
• Monitored cleaning supplies and ordered more when necessary.
• Adhered to health and safety regulations to maintain a safe environment, as there were specific regulations for different areas.
• As part of the hiring process for this position, I completed a PVG check.

As my first job, I worked in my local store on and off due to lockdown restrictions, and I greatly enjoyed my time there. My daily responsibilities included:

Daily, I ensured shelves were stocked, the store was kept clean, took cash and non-cash payments, lottery and scratch card transactions.

• I enhanced customer service by responding promptly and effectively to queries, as well as handling complaints efficiently, ensuring customer satisfaction.
• I maintained store cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, dusting, and dealing with spillages.
• I improved product availability by identifying shortages and restocking shelves.
• Ensured products' freshness by regularly checking and removing expired items.
• I carried out price checks accurately for correct billing at the till point.
• Arranged displays attractively, driving impulse purchases and increased sales through suggestive selling techniques.
• Followed standard operating procedures, strictly enforcing company policies and standards.
• I took cash and card payments efficiently and operated lottery and PayPoint machines.
• I worked effectively as part of a team by prioritizing my duties when there was a high traffic of customers.
