Responsible in the overall management of the patient flow of the unit. Ensuring that the highest standard of care and positive patient and relative experience are being delivered on a daily basis. Supporting and leading a team of nurses in facilitating patient’s admission to discharge, in a timely manner. I have the overall responsibilities for day-to-day management of the clinical area and for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures and maintaining associated records. It is my responsibility to manage, support and lead a team of nurses in the delivery of evidence based patient centered care, which is of a high standard. This includes managing unit staff, appraisal, rota, recruitment and selection and the supervision of learners. I will also provide specialist advice to patients, relatives and members of the multi-disciplinary team utilizing clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching. I am also responsible in monitoring and improving standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources. I shared responsibilities with my band 7 team in achieving and maintaining the SCAPE status and in achieving the NAAS standards and in leading quality improvement projects for continuous improvements.
Expected to work as part of a dynamic team responsible in providing a safe, effective, efficient care environment for patients, relatives and carer's. Also responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programs of care without direct supervision from senior staff/ Matron. Responsible in demonstrating commitment to quality patient care through effective leadership and team working. Provision of support, assessing/ conducting staff appraisal, mentoring of pre and post registration staff without direct supervision. Leading the pods on a day to day basis or shift leading the unit in the absence of the Sister or Ward Matron. This includes, allocating staff, allocating workload, delegating, managing staff issues, dealing with complaints (patient or relatives) and resolving difficult issues, actively assessing and reporting DATIX as well as answering DATIX in order to maintain a safe environment for patient and staff. Ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times throughout the floor. And also, making sure that staff are adhering to Trust Values/policies and that high standard of safe and excellent patients care is maintain and delivered at all times.
Responsible in looking after ICU patient whilst adhering to trust values and policy in contributing towards achieving the departmental goals and objectives.
• Evaluate and monitor the patient’s progress.
• Identify sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition.
• Deliver regular updates to doctors, patients, and their family members.
• Begin treatment and monitor doses.
• If necessary, respond to a medical emergency and alert the appropriate doctors.
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in the ICU unit.
• Complete all necessary paperwork before transferring a patient.
• Maintain patient records.
• Create and implement effective care plans.
• Experienced in delivering high standards of care to medical acutely ill elderly patients with complex health needs.
• Conduct individualize assessments of each patients, formulate plan of care, intervene and make necessary referrals.
• Frequently in charge of one bay consisting of 8 patients or more, making sure all their health needs are being met.

• Extensive experience in delivering the highest standards of care to various patients with different health needs in different departments.
• Obliged to work in different areas/department every 3-5 months and expected to cover staffing levels as needed (medical/surgical ward, orthopedic ward, A&E, ICU, pediatric ward, Ob-gyne ward, except theatre).
• Attended the required continuing education on a regular monthly basis.
• Extensive experience in managing different kinds of wound and leg ulcers .

I have been working in Critical Care Unit for more than 20 years and currently band 7 for over 4 years My overall experience has given me wealth of opportunities to continue to grow personally and professionally I have also acquired various skills and knowledge in leading team, and in dealing with difficult or complex situations And most of all, my ability to rise above diverse challenges that have presented while shift leading and as manager in Critical Care Unit

As manager, I keep my skills and knowledge up to date by attending relevant study days, leadership courses and quality improvement trainings I enjoy the challenge of driving and engaging with people in contributing to improve our practice and especially in leading quality improvement projects I do this by keeping myself proactive in working groups and QI projects in CCU I am currently involved in quality improvement projects in Medicine management, which aims at improving safety and culture in medicine administration in CCU I am also leading the blood transfusion QI project, which is ongoing and looking at reduction in DATIX related to blood transfusion I have presented our EDI QI project during QI Network NCA event last year Aside from that, I am also currently leading on the following working groups ie, Equality and Diversity Link group in CCU which aims in promoting inclusion and staff retention in CCU Our EDI team have successfully won the RCN Northwest nomination award for our EDI contribution last September 2023 We have also won another award this year from Intensive Care Society for the recognition of our outstanding work, which I have presented our work to the Intensive Care Society conference in Liverpool last June 2024 I have also been awarded the inclusive Leadership of the year award last 26/12/2024 following nomination amongst other civil service I am also a link lead in CCU for Blood Transfusion, Medicine Action Group, and Environmental Safety working group in CCU I have successfully launched pin site care pathway in EPR and have been involved training staff in bowel management for spinal patients
