Collaborate with key stakeholders to provide opportunities and purposeful activities for prisoners: Parole Film, Release and Reality Event, Soccer Aid, and Sustainability Activity Day.
Ensure effective management of several areas- Activity centre, Gardens, Recycling. Ensuring that security compliance, operational policies, and procedures are implemented and monitored.
Ensure effective management of the PLIs for the Activities department, consisting of approximately 85 prisoners. Including SUN (Supporting Unity Network), BFNG (Building Futures Network Group), Our Generations and Sustainability.
Organise, staff and participate in community events, including Soccer Aid, Release and Reality, Parole film.
Support and manage PCOs, and workshop instructors. Dealing with HR related issues.
Provide advice, guidance, and support to staff. Coaching and mentoring to maximise performance and ensure values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures are met.
Complete 121s and EDRs for staff.
Manage sickness absence for staff.
Managed efficiently and effectively two house block units comprising up to 166 prisoners and 16 staff.
Managed Care and Separation Unit (CSU) which houses the most challenging and vulnerable prisoners. Many of which have learning difficulties, mental health problems and personality disorders. Managed a group of 12 staff, leading my team to win 'Team of the Year'.
Provided a secure and rehabilitative environment for prisoners. Ensuring they received all statutory rights in line with contractual obligations.
Developed and introduced first Peer led initiatives (PLIs) at HMP Rye Hill, PEN and ASSIST.
Worked in P&Q department. Completing internal audits, assurance frameworks and checking compliance matrix.
Worked in Rosters department, ensuring the prison was sufficiently staffed. Holding meetings with other managers and senior managers when staffing levels were low to minimise risk to the establishment and ensure the regime was still able to run.
Completed interviews for new prison custody officer recruits and delivered training to ITC groups.
Held multi-departmental reviews with various departments, outside agencies, and volunteers. Using a whole prison approach.
