
I am currently employed at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board working as a Rehabilitation Assistant within the Trauma Unit. This role enables me to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, where we aim to provide the highest quality of patient care. One of the most satisfying aspects of this role is being able to help people of all ages to overcome their illness and injury. Subsequently, I am aiming to develop my future career in this field of healthcare.
I enjoy sports specifically netball, tennis and I enjoy going to the gym regularly and compete in the new sport of Hyrox.
I am hard working, have a positive attitude, enthusiastic, well organized and self-directed.
I have completed a six-month work placement at Cardiff Sports Clinic.
During this time, I gained a wealth of practical experience. This included; detailed history taking from clients, clinical examinations and diagnosis, practical treatments (massage techniques, trigger points assessments), use of exercise programs (e.g., Rehab my patient), and demonstration of exercises.
The patients seen had a variety of clinical problems including; tendinopathies, arthritis, shoulder problems, back pain, and other joint and muscle pain.
As an administrative assistant I worked mainly on the front desk of the GP surgery dealing with patients.
My responsibilities included dealing with a variety of patient queries, arranging appointments, basic triage (of patients face to face, and on the telephone - enabling their details to be assessed by doctors), new registrations and responding to doctor/nurse queries.
The importance of good communication was fundamental to the role. I valued working as part of a multidisciplinary team, always treating patients and staff with dignity and respect, acting professional as well as being fully aware of the importance of patient confidentiality.
I spent a 6 month work placement assisting the exercise therapist; this involved helping patients with their mobility and fitness within the gym environment. This public facing role required me to act in a supportive, respectful way and communicate well.
Working with the public, providing the best service I can. Taking customer orders promptly, noting down specific dietary requirements and communicating with the kitchen staff. I also worked under pressure due to a bust workload, and dealt with customer complaints.
