  • My main duties and responsibilities consist in supporting student nurses, student nursing associates and Return to Practice nursing students in the clinical areas, both in St Helier and Epsom hospitals. It also involve working together and closely with the ward leaders and university lecturers to create a positive learning experience where students will be able to grow and become confident, competent and working under their scope of practice.


  • Planning and facilitating T-level students placement allocation. Liaising with several healthcare professionals and departments to provide support over their 2 years T-level programme.


  • Conducting educational audits in wards and departments to review the learning opportunities for students and to enhance the quality of the learning environment. Reviewing student's capacity according to the staffing levels, available learning opportunities and the number of Practice Assessors in those areas.
  • Providing information and support to ward nurses about the "Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment" (SSSA) training and reinforcing the need and importance for them to become Practice Assessors and take part in students' assessment. Delivering SSSA teaching session to Practice supervisors.
  • Guiding staff on how to book on the SSSA training provided by the Trust education team and/or the universities and keeping a record of Practice assessors.


  • Assisting nurses on the ward in completing student's assessment on the electronic Practice Assessment Document (ePAD) and/or the paper Practice Assessment Document (PAD). Helping nurses understand the importance of timely assessment of student's learning and practice as well as giving constructive feedbacks and implementing Action Plans early.


  • Planning students induction prior the start of their clinical placement and tailoring its content according to their stage/ level of experience.


  • Ensuring regular visits on the ward for the return to practice student nurses to help build their confidence, aid in their assessment and monitor their progress.


  • Contributing to students' learning by conducting 1:1 teaching session in the clinical areas for those who have been identified as requiring additional support and/or when concerns have been raised by the ward nurses. Assessing their progress, providing constructive feedback for improvement.


  • Monitoring students absences, carrying out well being checks and providing pastoral care.


  • Creating students roster template for all wards to use to record students shifts, sickness and absences and keep records updated. Maintaining communication with the wards leads and the universities.


  • Developing online teaching platform for students. This involves liaising with different Clinical Nurse Specialists to deliver weekly teaching session via Teams for all students who are on placement.


  • Conducting monthly uniform audits of all apprentices within the Trust.


  • Taking part in reviewing student placement evaluations and going to career fair
