I am a Captain on the A320 at London Heathrow, having been in British Airways for over 24 years. I was a BA Cadet and joined on the B737, and subsequently flew the B777 for 18 years. Whilst at BA I have additionally worked in the construction industry and the British Army and am keen to use my skills and experiences gained both within, and outside of British Airways to the benefit of the Flight Data Monitoring team.
Having been in the UOTC whilst at university, I rejoined the army reserves in response to more available time during the pandemic.
As a requirement to be accepted on my preferred MSc Building Surveying I needed industry exposure. This was a non-paid role working primarily 2 NHS construction projects; a radiotherapy unit under the NHS Procure 21+ partnering framework and a sterilisation unit at Colchester General Hospital.
I use my skills and experience gained from both operating as a pilot with British Airways and other environments outside of BA, to operate the A320 on the shorthaul network
I consider there are many parallels and similar themes routinely encountered both in flying and my various other roles For example, threat identification and management are core principles in aviation, construction and military operations Additionally I consider I have demonstrated my ability to effectively assess, prioritise and manage risks in a time-pressured environment, and all whilst operating as part of a team
